Scottish Championship, League One and League Two clubs have committed to daily Covid testing in a bid to keep the game going during the latest wave of the pandemic.
Teams such as Airdrie, Albion Rovers, Clyde and Hamilton will commit to the measures as the Omicron variant of Covid begins to spread across the UK.
Welsh football will move behind closed doors from Boxing Day while Premiership clubs Dundee United and St Mirren have been hit with Covid outbreaks.
English football has also been ravaged by Covid and only one Premier League game was played on Saturday - Leeds United v Arsenal - after virus-related postponements.
Premiership clubs started daily testing this week and the new regime for lower league teams comes into effect on Tuesday and lasts until the third of January.
There is still to be a decision to made on levels below the SPFL.
A Joint Response Group statement reads: "Following a video conference with representatives from cinch Championship, League 1 and League 2 clubs, the enhanced protocols announced for the cinch Premiership last Friday by the Joint Response Group will now be extended throughout the Scottish Professional Football League.
"Further meetings are scheduled with the Scottish Women's Premier League and Scottish Highland and Lowland Football Leagues on Wednesday, and a further announcement will be made thereafter."
