Scottish Festival of Motoring hailed a big success

ONE of the first automotive events of the year as Covid restrictions lifted – the Scottish Festival of Motoring – did not disappoint, with some fantastic vehicles on show.

Appealing to both families and car enthusiasts, there was something for everyone to enjoy at the recent motoring extravaganza at the Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston, Edinburgh.

Jonny Davies, the current British and Scottish Motorcycle Stunt Champion, wowed the crowd with his amazing acrobatics. And the Clan Bicycle Stunt Team proved pedal power could be just as exciting with a daring display.

The supercar passenger experience, drifting demonstration and Dyno rolling road (run by Ignition Breakdown Recovery) were also hugely popular. With numerous car clubs, trade stands, live music and a kids zone, there was something to keep all ages entertained.

The overall Show Vehicle Winner was Gary Wilson with his 1975 Ford Escort RS1800.

The car is believed to be one of the first built after the press cars and is a rare one of five made from a sport shell before moving to a Mexico base. The car restoration has taken 10 years to get to a full concourse standard.

Organisers are already looking forward to the return of the festival on July 17 next year.
