Scottish farmer's fury after Belfast birthday party balloon nearly chokes calf

A farmer has hit out after pulling a 5ft birthday balloon from the mouth of a baby cow.

Robert Fleming, who lives in Glenuce in Scotland, took to Twitter to vent his anger after seeing the calf choking.

He said he saw a message on the balloon, indicating it had come from a birthday in Belfast, imploring whoever found it to take to social media.

So Mr Fleming tweeted:

Mr Fleming later revealed the calf survived but only because he was "in the right place at the right time".

He added: "Much like a toddler a cow uses its mouth to explore objects. Sometimes the consequences can be fatal.

"I just felt I needed to highlight the risks."
