Scottish fan walks to find a street name for each of the team’s 26 squad members

A football fan who went on a hunt across Scotland to find street names for each of the country’s 26 squad members, has finally completed his mission.

David Little, 23, started the route in honour of the national men’s team after they broke a 23-year-long tournament drought by qualifying.

He told followers on social media that it took “several stupidly long walks, runs, cycles, bus and train journeys” but he finished the challenge on Monday.

Gilmour place, Turnbull street and John Street were among the list of names found.

It comes after Scotland, who were roared on by their fans during a match with Czech Republic, failed to secure a win.

Now the team are bottom of Group D on goal difference, with the Czechs at top, reported the Independent.

Mr Little told the Standard: “It started when Glasgow went into Tier 2 [coronavirus restrictions] after about 9 months of lockdown and it just something to do really.

“Initially when I came up with the idea I just told my parents, who laughed but encouraged me to actually do it. They were very supportive,” he added.

Mr Little said he was “obviously disappointed” with the first result against the Czech Republic.

But he insisted he thought the team had a chance of progressing and said he was looking forward to the game against England on Friday.

England, meanwhile, are second after beating Croatia 1-0 at Wembley on Sunday due to Raheem Sterling’s second-half goal.
