Scottish FA invites all SPFL clubs to summit on future of national game

Football

The Scottish Football Association will host a "critically important" summit on the national game's future.

Taking place in St Andrews on September 4, the summit invites all Scottish Professional Football League clubs.

The event, announced in an email seen by BBC Scotland, will focus on the "current reality" of Scottish football.

Attendees will "discuss opportunities" around homegrown talent and hear from clubs who have "optimised their elite talent development model".

The forum will also explore ways to improve prospects for Scottish talent and increase club revenue streams.

The summit comes after Scotland's national team failed to progress beyond the group stage at the men's World Cup, their first finals since 1998.

The summit will be hosted by SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell and chief football officer Craig Mulholland.
