Scottish FA chief is new chair of FIFA committee as three others land new roles

Scottish FA President Mike Mulraney is the new Chairperson of FIFA’s Finance Committee.

He is one of four SFA' representaitves called upon to bolster FIFA operations. Chief executive Ian Maxwell has been invited to join the Men’s Football Stakeholders Committee, chief operating officer Rucelle Soutar is on the Football Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Committee while chief medical officer Jonny Gordon has been invited to FIFA’s Medical Committee.

Speaking on his own appointment, Mulraney said: “It’s an honour to be invited to Chair FIFA’s Finance Committee.

“Since being elected as President of the Scottish FA, I have said it was hugely important that Scotland – as the architects of the game, and one of FIFA’s longest-standing members – is better represented internationally.

“This is something the Scottish FA has worked hard to improve in recent years.

“I will give my all in supporting the economic growth of the game for all members of FIFA.

“I will also ensure that the voice of Scottish football can resonate at international level, off the field as well as on it.”

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said: “The new Standing Committees will lead to the greater involvement of our Member Associations, the confederations and other stakeholders in our decision-making processes, increased female representation and more focused technical expertise in various areas relevant to football.

“In other words, FIFA will be better equipped to face the future.”
