Scottish Election 2021: Willie Rennie retains seat in North East Fife

Willie Rennie has retained his seat at the Scottish Parliament by winning the North East Fife constituency contest.

The Scottish Liberal Democrat leader, who was defending a 3,465 majority from 2016, saw off his SNP challenger in the Fife seat.

Rennie has been an MSP at Holyrood since 2011 and will represent the area for the next five years up to 2026.

Rhuaraid Fleming came second for the SNP with Rhona Metcalfe for the Scottish Conservatives taking third place in the contest.

Throughout the campaign Rennie has made Scotland's recovery from the pandemic as his number one issue.

Other areas such as mental health and climate change have been high on the agenda for the Lib Dems leader.

At the 2016 Scottish parliamentary elections the Lib Dems returned five seats to the chamber in Edinburgh.

Many opinion polls have predicted they will get the same this time around.
