Scottish Election 2021: Tories lose battleground seat of Ayr to SNP

The Scottish Conservatives have lost the key battleground seat of Ayr to the SNP in the 2021 Holyrood election.

Tory MSP John Scott was defending a small 716 majority from the 2016 Scottish parliamentary vote.

Siobhan Brown, from the SNP, managed to wrestle the seat from Douglas Ross's party in the South Scotland region which will be seen as a big coup for Nicola Sturgeon's party.

Esther Clark from Scottish Labour came third, while Jamie Ross for the Lib Dems took fourth place in the contest.

Pictures emerged on social media yesterday evening showing huge queues at polling stations across the constituency.
