Unlike other areas across Scotland the Lothian region is wide open and could see any of the main parties (SNP, Tories, Labour, Lib Dems and the Greens) pick up vital seats in the Holyrood chamber.

The issues on the doorsteps are different in each part of the region, however Scotland's recovery from the coronavirus is at the top of the list for most candidates.

The Scottish Greens narrowly managed to secure a second seat in the capital last time. They will need to increase their vote share if the SNP take the two constituencies.

The Tories and Labour will be looking to keep hold of their seats.

What are the main issues?

The Lothian region is a very diverse area in terms of wealth. There are someone of the wealthiest areas, but some of the most deprived in the country as well.

There are a number of issues on the outskirts of the capital surrounding jobs, transport and health services to house and rent prices in Edinburgh itself.

Candidates on the list will have to be clued up on the large number of issues the voters have.
