Labour hold on to Edinburgh Southern with a three per cent swing away from the SNP, giving the party its first MP in the Scottish parliament as the results come rolling in.
Daniel Johnson was returned as MSP and increased his majority over the SNP by almost 3,000 on a huge turnout of 71.1 per cent
Edinburgh Southern has changed hands more times than any other seat in the Lothian Region.
It elected a Labour MSP at the start of devolution in 1999, but the Lib Dems won it in 2003, then it went Nationalist in the 2011 SNP landslide before Daniel Johnson won it back for Labour last time.
Edinburgh Southern was also the only constituency in Scotland to elect a Labour MP, Ian Murray, to Westminster at the 2019 general election.
The Holyrood seat is a key target for the SNP as it aims for an overall majority.
