Scottish Cup run would be so special for Jeanfield Swifts

Jeanfield Swifts are daring to dream of a special Scottish Cup run.

And on Tuesday the Perth side found out that their preliminary round two opponents will be Stirling University of the Lowland League.

The match is scheduled to take place at the Riverside on Saturday, December 12.

Swifts captain Aaron Whitehead said: “I’m happy with the draw. Stirling Uni are a good side in the league above but we have always proven that we can compete at that level.

“Being at home is an advantage, we have had a very good start and will be especially confident at the Riverside.

“It’s a special competition and to get a good run in it would be fantastic.

“I never got a chance last season due to injury so for me personally it’s something to look forward to.

“It would be very exciting to test ourselves against one of the top teams, you just never know in cup competitions.

“But of course we will take it one game at a time.”

Swifts have actually already played Stirling Uni in recent times and defeated them 3-1 in a pre-season fixture.

But Whitehead warned: “Yes we got a good win against them in pre-season but competitive games are a lot different.

“Pre-season is a good place to try new formations and tactics so results are less important.

“We will be under no illusion that it’ll be a comfortable game.”
