Scottish Cup Final moved to before end of next Premiership season in major fixture shake-up

Next season's Scottish Cup final is set for it's earliest date in 18 years in a bid to avoid clashing with plans for Euro 2020.

What is normally the end of season showpiece will now take place two weeks BEFORE the end of the SPFL season - on Saturday, May 9 - meaning those involved will still have at least one league fixture to negotiate AFTER the final.

The final has been brought forward due to restrictions over Hampden 's use for next summer's European Championships.

Hampden will host four matches during the Euros and the first of those will kick off on June 20.

SPFL dates released two months ago show that the Premiership season ends on May 15/16 while the Play-off Final is a full two weeks after the Scottish Cup Final.

It's the earliest the final has been held since 2002 when Rangers defeated Celtic 3-2 in a match played on May 4.
