Scottish Cup final date: Hampden showpiece to take place earlier than usual this season

Celtic fans might want to take note of the earlier than usual Scottish Cup final date in the event they get past Aberdeen in next month's semi.

This year's Hampden showpiece will take place two weeks before the end of the league season rather than its traditional date at the end of the domestic campaign.

The reason for the move is due to the matches Hampden is scheduled to host during the upcoming Euro 2020 championships.

Celtic will take on Derek McInnes' side at 3pm on Sunday, 12 April for a spot in the final, with Neil Lennon's men chasing yet another domestic treble.

Hearts will play Hibs a day earlier in the other semi-final.

The final will then take place on Saturday, 9 May, meaning it's going to be the earliest Scottish Cup final in almost 20-years.

The Hampden Euro 2020 matches are scheduled to be held on Monday, 15 June with fixtures then taking place on Friday, 19 June, Tuesday, 23 June and Tuesday, 30 June.
