Scottish Cup being played is great, it gives us a chance to win it, says Accies boss

Hamilton boss Brian Rice is delighted that this season's Scottish Cup is to be played - because St Johnstone have proved that any team can win a trophy.

Saints beat Livingston 1-0 on Sunday to lift the Betfred Cup for the first time in their history, and Rice believes that should inspire Hamilton to do something similar.

Scottish FA bosses have confirmed that the competition will be played, with the final set for May 22 at Hampden, and Rice would love to be there.

He said: "I'm delighted with it, it gives us a chance to win a cup.

"St Johnstone won a cup, why can't we win a cup - that's the way you've got to look at it.

"It's the Scottish Cup, you don't get too many chances to play in the Scottish Cup, or to get to Scottish Cup finals or anything like that.

"I've been to a Scottish Cup final with a team, I know the feeling, I know what it does for the community, it would be fantastic.

"So fair play to them for getting the Scottish Cup played - I'm delighted about that."
