Scottish Cup: Auchinleck Talbot striker Mark Shankland relishing another year in competition

Mark Shankland will be delighted if Auchinleck Talbot can qualify for another year of the senior Scottish Cup proper.

Tommy Sloan's men take on Camelon in the second preliminary qualifying round as they look to get through again a year after beating Ayr United in the fourth round.

And Shankland, who set up Craig McCracken's winner against Ayr, said: "It's important financially if you can get a run.

"Last year we got a run so it's important.

"But it's just another game, and we have had a lot of games recently. It's hard going Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday, Wednesday constantly.

"But the boys will rest up and I am sure we will be ready for Saturday."

He added: "Last year's success gives us fight to go again, you want to go on and do better.

"Obviously that will be hard to do because we went so far last year, but who wouldn't want a run like that again."
