Scottish Cup: Albion Rovers boss won't underestimate Brora Rangers amid injury issues

Brian Reid insists Albion Rovers won't underestimate Brora Rangers when they clash in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

Rovers head to Dudgeon Park determined to reach the third round, but face a Highland League side who have won nine of their last 10 games - and knocked Hearts out of the competition last season.

Reid said: "Any Highland League team will give you a tough game.

"I've been a manager for a good few years now and know what it's like.

"Even the junior teams up north like Sunnybank and Lochee, they always give you tough games.

"So we'll give Brora the respect they are due and go up there to put on a good performance.

"They are riding high in the Highland League so it's going to be a tough game.

"I know the importance of getting through in terms of revenue for the club.

"It would be massive for us if we can get a good cup run. It can give you such a boost, but other clubs are in the same boat.

"Highland League teams will get a big boost from these games as well."

Rovers go into the clash off the back of an encouraging 2-0 win over Elgin City last weekend in League Two.

However, there's been no let up in Rovers' injury woes and they will head north with a few players sidelined, while sweating on the fitness of others.

Reid explained: "It's going to be difficult, especially with five or six missing, so we need to get ourselves going.

"We've got Declan Byrne out, Charlie Reilly out, Lewis Wilson out, Scott Roberts out, Eldin Al-Zubaidi out and that's on top of Jamie McKernon leaving.

"Charlie and Lewis have a 50/50 chance, but the others are definitely out.

"Whether it's league or cup, you just want to keep winning.

"It's one where we need to be professional in our manner and take a lot of confidence from Saturday's performance to make sure we come back down the road with a place in the next round."
