Scottish craft brewery toast sponsorship of football team that went viral for Nessie shirts with limited edition lager

A popular Highland brewing company has created a special beer to celebrate its sponsorship of a Loch Ness football club which recently hit the headlines for its Nessie design football kit.

Loch Ness FC went viral after releasing three new shirts for the 20/21 season that featured the Loch Ness Monster in their design, with orders flooding in from all over the world.

Features on BBC Breakfast and Match of The Day ensured orders came pouring in, securing the future of the semi-professional club as it joins the North Caledonian League.

WooHa Brewing Company, which is based along the coast at Kinloss, answered the club's call for sponsors and has now created a limited-edition Loch Ness FC Lager.

WooHa will collaborate with Loch Ness FC over the coming season by getting involved in community projects, helping to raise the profile of the club, and of course, ensuring the players have cold, fresh beer to drink after every match.

The specially brewed WooHa Loch Ness FC Lager is available to pre-order from the brewery website, priced at £27 for 12x330ml bottles, 20% of sales will go directly towards funding for the club over the 2020/21 season.

WooHa founder Heather McDonald stated they are delighted to be sponsoring a local team, she said: "It’s been fantastic to see the positive reception the new look home shirt has received from fans around the world.

"I’m looking forward to cheering them on when the season begins and celebrating every win with a cold bottle of Loch Ness FC Lager.”

Loch Ness Football Club chairman, Shane Carling said: “It's fantastic to find a sponsor that shares the same core values as the club so we're looking forward to working on some great projects together.

"Delighted to have some post match beers from a quality brewing company.”
