A SCOTISH air conditioning company has made its first acquisition outside Scotland with bosses keen to expand further.
Blantyre-based Cleartech Group, which specialises in air conditioning maintenance, water treatment and Legionella compliance services, has already expanded into England with an office in Tyne and Wear and in London.
Now it has acquired Wigan-based ECB (Water Solutions).
It services industrial and commercial outlets in Greater Manchester and Lancashire.
The company now has its eyes on Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds, with further operations in Newcastle.
Cleartech Group bosses said: “With over £1m in annual revenue and a long-standing reputation for quality, ECB is a fantastic addition to the Cleartech Group.”
Cleartech’s founder and CEO Jim McGuigan said: “This significantly expands our geographical footprint across the UK, strengthening our presence in the North of England and beyond. We look forward to delivering more projects across key regions, including Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds, while further enhancing our operations in Newcastle.
"A special shout out goes to David Cosgrove, operations and contracts manager, and the entire ECB team. Their knowledge and commitment will be instrumental in driving Cleartech’s growth in the region.”
Consilium Chartered Accountants provided lead advisory and tax due diligence services to Cleartech Group.
Corporate finance partner John Blair and tax partner Craig Coyle have worked with McGuigan for a decade.
Blair said: “We’re proud to have supported Jim and the whole Cleartech Group for many years and in that time, watched the business go from strength to strength. This acquisition is the next step in that process, and everyone at Consilium is excited to see what the expanded Cleartech Group will achieve.”
