An "anti-woke" comedian has compared Scotland to North Korea after struggling to land bookings.
Leo Kearse, known for his standup set Right-Wing Comedian, stated that the "SNP own the main comedy clubs" and that was the reason he is unable to get standup gigs.
He claimed that The Stand Comedy Club - which was cofounded by SNP MP for Edinburgh East Tommy Sheppard - refuses to hire him because he is "anti-woke".

As reported by the Daily Record, the comedy club - which has venues in Edinburgh and Glasgow - responded by saying that Kearse's material was not landing with audiences.
Kearse previously ran for election in Scotland's parliamentary elections in May, standing for Laurence Fox's Reclaim Party, where he received just 114 votes.
Health Secretary Humza Yousaf won the election in Glasgow Pollok with 18,163 votes.
Speaking in The Times, Kearse said: "Scotland is like North Korea.
"You have state-owned comedy clubs; you have women charged for sending tweets with suffragette ribbons.
"Cancel culture is really accelerating."
A spokesman for the Stand Comedy Club told The Times: "Leo has done gigs here before.
"Every act gets reviewed by our staff, and the feedback was that he wasn't landing with our audience.
"We booked based on that."
