Scottish comedian Paul Black hits out after discovery about Edinburgh takeaways

Paul Black has been in the capital to perform at Edinburgh's Festival Fringe, but the Scottish funny man has a bone to pick with the city's nightlife cuisine.

The comedian has been in the capital performing his Self Care Era show at the Festival Fringe, closing the final show on Wednesday, August 10. The Glasgow-based writer posted a late-night tweet to his social media account, as he realised something was very off about the nightlife.

Paul Black wrote on Twitter: "Announce one takeaway being open at this hour in this god forsaken city." This tweet was accompanied by a screenshot of Beyonce's newest album, with Edinburgh photoshopped into the song title to read 'Edinburgh has a problem', instead of 'America has a problem'.

This post was well-received by fans, who flooded his replies with their own opinions. One Twitter user wrote: "Good luck trying to find a chippy that doesn’t serve ye ‘fries’ either!"

Another said: "It is a problem in the city centre, for sure!"

And a third gave Paul some advice, writing: "McDonald's West End or Pizza Paradise next to the Tron are your only options now the glorious Palmyra Pizza closes around 1:30/2:00 nowadays. At a push Burrito n Shake might still be open at 4am."

More comments read: "McDonald’s" alongside skull emojis, and another just added a simple "Lol" to the conversation.

While Paul's run of shows in Edinburgh may be over for the time being, the comedian is heading down south with his Self Care Era tour. Paul will perform at London's Soho Theatre on Friday August 26 and Saturday August 27, with tickets available here.
