THE 2021 Scottish Car of the Year (SCOTY) will be unveiled at a glittering real-life awards ceremony on November 25.
Last year’s SCOTY awards were a virtual affair due to the pandemic. But with restrictions lifted, the 2021 event will once again take its place as one of the foremost automotive awards nights on the calendar.
Senior UK motoring industry executives will be at Dalmahoy Hotel, near Edinburgh, in force for a celebration of the year’s best new cars. More than 15 categories will be contested, including small car, family car, EV, pick-up, executive car, and used car.
Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) – including Road Record contributors – will vote for the category winner they think should lift the coveted overall Scottish Car of the Year award.
Ford’s Puma won the 2020 award and other past winners include the Jaguar I-PACE, Volvo V90, Vauxhall Astra, Land Rover Discovery, Mazda3, Ford Mondeo, Dacia Duster, Hyundai i10 and Kia Sportage.
This year’s black tie event will also celebrate 60 years since the ASMW was founded.
ASMW president Jack McKeown said: “I am delighted SCOTY is returning in the flesh after being held virtually last year. Motoring PRs often tell us it’s their favourite event on the automotive calendar.
“Voting won’t happen until closer to the event so there is still time for manufacturers to get cars to the judges to consider for Scottish Car of the Year.”
