As air travel remains off the cards, for many Scots a ‘staycation’ on a UK campsite has never looked more appealing.
Two weeks ago the Caravan and Motorhome Club announced they were set to reopen in Scotland from July 15 – with strict new safety measures in place on all sites.
But now, in news that will delight people who can’t wait to get into the great outdoors, they said some campsites in Scotland will open even sooner.
In an email sent to members on June 30 the club said they were bringing that date forward in line with government advice.
The message said: “In line with the latest UK Government & Devolved Administration announcements, we will now be opening the majority of our campsites from 4 July in England, 10 July in Scotland and 13 July in Wales.
“Please note that the facility blocks on campsites in Scotland will be closed until 15 July but you can still empty your waste water at the service points.”

COVID secure camping
They have changed procedures on campsites and introduced new measures to keep people safe.
Staff have carried out a full assessment of each site and will operate according to the Government’s COVID secure guidelines.
They have also increased the rigour of cleaning, sanitising and disinfecting common areas and making sure that the middle of each camping pitch is at least 6m from the next.
They added: “We aim to provide a contactless arrival and departure process wherever possible.
“Most, if not all of our common areas will be open with social distancing measures in place - this could include toilet blocks, laundry, information rooms, water & waste points.”
