Scottish business heavyweight Brian McBride to join board of Standard Life Aberdeen

Trainline chairman and former Celtic FC director Brian McBride is to join the board of Standard Life Aberdeen to help develop the finance group's digital business.

The Glasgow-born executive has previously led Amazon in the UK, was chairman of online fashion retailer ASOS, CEO of T-Mobile UK and has been a director of AO.com, the BBC, Computacenter PLC and SThree.

He is currently on the boards of Kinnevik AB and Wiggle.com and is a Senior Adviser to Lazard's UK Financial Advisory Business and to Scottish Equity Partners. he joined Trainline as chairman in September last year.

McBride will take up his role as a non-executive director of Standard Life Aberdeen on 1 May, 2020, when he will also will also join the group's Remuneration Committee. The group's vice-chairman Martin Gilbert is due to stand down after the AGM that month.
