Scottish beer gardens set to reopen as Nicola Sturgeon gives dates for lockdown easing

Beer gardens in Glasgow and across Scotland have provisionally been given the green light to reopen as Nicola Sturgeon announced the Scottish Government's latest steps towards lockdown easing.

And significantly, the likes of pubs and restaurants and other venues operating within the hospitality sector could welcome customers indoors as early as July 15, 'subject to Scientific Advisory Group review'.

Speaking in the Scottish parliament, the First Minister gave major updates on when bars can begin outdoor service as well as the likes hairdressers and barbers reopening and the end of the five mile travel ban.

Many in the hospitality industry were left disappointed last week as the Scottish Government put the brakes on bars being able to open up outdoor spaces

But now beer gardens can prepare for opening up on Monday, July 6, an indicative date given by the government, as detailed within the latest 'indicative dates for remainder of Phase 2 and early Phase 3 document.

However, those wishing to enjoy a drink with friends at a beer garden will have to provide the bar or restaurant with their name and contact details, according to the Scottish Government.
