Scottish bank holiday dates to book off work to turn Easter weekend into 9 days holiday

If you are in need of time off work whether you want to head away for a few days or simply chill on the sofa, then there are some handy hacks that could be useful to know when it comes to booking time off.

You're not the only one in the holiday mindset with recent research showing that 61 per cent of Brits are planning to go on holiday abroad this year, up from 50 per cent who were asked the same question last year.

And with Good Friday around the corner, Frank Recruitment Group has solved the calculations for us with a hack meaning that you can more than double your time off this Easter to get a well-deserved rest.

This hack works for employees in Scotland who get Bank Holidays off as part of their contract with their employer and typically work Monday to Friday.

To achieve a nine-day break over the upcoming Bank Holiday, it is suggested that you book the days in the run-up to Good Friday off work.

This means workers should request April 3 (Monday) until April 6 (Thursday) off as April 7 marks Good Friday, when people who get bank holidays, are off.

Because of this, this will turn your long weekend into a nine-day break, with plenty of time to get a change of scenery.

It gets even better in May, when you have the chance to use the same amount of leave but instead enjoy 10 days away from work, thanks to the Early May Bank Holiday on the May 1 and King Charles III’s coronation on May 8 - a week apart.

To get the 10 day break in May using just four days of annual leave, you should request May 2 (Tuesday) to May 5 (Friday) off.

Alternatively, if the dates suit better, you could book off the remainder of the week after the coronation and have nine days instead. If possible, you could even book all the time off and have 16 days away from your desk to spend however you please.
