Scottish airport with world's only disappearing runway explored in new US series

A SCOTTISH airport with the world’s only “disappearing runway” has been featured in a new US YouTube series.

Airplane Mode, a series from travel website The Points Guy, takes viewers behind the scenes into the aviation industry and reveals how airlines and airports operate.

It aims to give travel lovers exclusive access, to learn about the industry, and gain insights into the world behind the screen.

The six episodes on their popular YouTube channel include stories from Singapore Airlines, British Airways, Airbus, Icelandair, Wisk and Barra Airport - one of the most unique airports in the world.

The episode on Barra explores how this Scottish airport operates, with the runway disappearing twice a day due to the high tide.

Loganair operates multiple flights daily from Glasgow, with only a public beach to land on – the world’s only commercial tidal beach runway.

We previously reported on a man who successfully pulled off a unique marriage proposal at the picturesque airport
