Scottish actor David Tennant reveals if he'd ever star in a Doctor Who film

SCOTTISH actor David Tennant and Billie Piper have revealed to fans whether they would ever star in a Doctor Who film.

The pair, who played the roles of The Doctor and Rose Tyler on the show in the late 2000s, were asked about reprising their roles for the big screen after Ncuti Gatwa's 15th Doctor appeared to regenerate into Billie Piper at the end of the last season.

Discussing the possibility of a film at a Comic Con event in Los Angeles, Billie said: "Do we foresee a movie? Yes."

David Tennant, who returned to the programme alongside Catherine Tate for a three-part special, added: "Sure."

Doctor Who has been on the big screen a number of times over its 60-year history, with its first foray into film starring Peter Cushing.

Billie Piper revealed that she had pushed for a movie adaptation during her time on the BBC's long-running sci-fi show.

The 43-year-old star said: "I was always pitching for that: 'Where's the film?' And we are the ones.

"I loved it that people went to see that last Doctor Who episode in the cinema. I would love the Doctor Who experience on the big screen. They are sort of like films anyway."

Turning to David Tennant, the former pop star said: "I'd do that, wouldn't you?"

The 54-year-old Scottish actor replied: "Oh, for sure. We're available."

Discussing her most recent appearance on Doctor Who, the actress said: "It's no secret how much I love this show, and I have always said I would love to return to the Whoniverse as I have some of my best memories there, so to be given the opportunity to step back on that Tardis one more time was just something I couldn't refuse!"

The most recent incarnation of the Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, said he would "truly miss" the role after bowing out from the programme.

The Sex Education actor said: "You know, when you get cast, at some point you are going to have to hand back that sonic screwdriver and it is all going to come to an end, but nothing quite prepares you for it.

"This journey has been one that I will never forget, and a role that will be part of me forever. There are no words to describe what it feels like to be cast as the Doctor, nor are there words to explain what it feels like to be accepted into this iconic role that has existed for over 60 years and is truly loved by so many across the globe."
