Scott Wright set for Aberdeen transfer exit as Derek McInnes reveals winger is 'looking down south'

Winger Scott Wright looks set to leave Aberdeen with contract talks coming to a standstill.

The 23-year-old is out of contract at Pittodrie this summer and Derek McInnes admits the winger could be set for a switch to English football.

The club had been keen to keep the forward after his stand-out performances in the Scottish Premiership so far this season.

Despite months of talks between the club and player, told the Evening Express he expects the star man to move on having been unable to reach an agreement.

McInnes insist the club have done everything they can to tie down the academy graduate but he is now assessing his options.

The Dons boss said: “It looks as if Scott is looking at trying something different, maybe looking down south unfortunately.

“From our point of view, we are really keen for Scott to stay, but he just wants to keep his options open at the minute.

“We have done all we can to try and get Scott to stay.

“But we are now four months in and are not any further forward.

“We have not been able to reach an agreement. Scott and his agent have indicated they want to look at options and are not in a position to commit.”

Wright has been an ever-present in the Aberdeen starting line-up until a recent injury. He made his return from the bench in the draw with Dundee United and is set to face Rangers this weekend.
