Scott Wright sent warm Rangers welcome by Ryan Jack as pair set for Ibrox reunion

Scott Wright has been given a warm welcome to Rangers by former team-mate Ryan Jack after the Aberdeen midfielder signed a pre-contract with the club.

Wright followed Jack through the Pittodrie ranks as the pair would go on to play alongside one another in the Dons first team, before Jack made the move to Ibrox in 2017.

And they're now set to reunite once again after Wright, who enjoyed a loan spell at Dundee in 2019, sealed his Bosman deal to the Light Blues at the end of the season.

Jack has been a standout performer under Steven Gerrard and fans will be hoping Wright will have a similar impact with his new employers.

Jack, who scored at the weekend in a 5-0 win over Ross County, is delighted about the prospect of linking up with his good friend and will take on the role of helping Wright settle into his new surroundings when he arrives in the summer.

He said on Instagram: "Welcome to the teddy's @scottwright_.

"Happy Monday."

Wright has been on the club's radar for some time and Rangers sporting director Ross Wilson is delighted to have him on board.

He said: "We look forward to Scott joining Rangers and we are excited to see him continue to develop his talent working with Steven and all of our staff. Scott fits our football identity and our plan for the development of our squad.

"Adding Scott, as a young Scottish player, who will continue to enhance his talent here, is part of our plan. I’ve enjoyed all of our conversations and we can see that Scott is a very humble young man who is both determined and excited to be part of what we are building here at Rangers.

"We thank Aberdeen for their cooperation and professionalism during this period.”
