Scott Wright Rangers transfer hits hurdle after Aberdeen knock back multiple bids for attacker

Aberdeen have turned down multiple bids from Rangers for Scott Wright, Record Sport can reveal .

The Premiership league leaders have been in talks with the Dons since Sunday night to land the attacker before the deadline.

The Dons are standing firm over their valuation and won’t let him go unless their asking price is reached.

Aberdeen are willing to lose him for nothing at the end of their contract because they see the value of keeping Wright at the club as they push for second place.

The Dons have eased some of the financial pressure to sell after Sam Cosgrove moved to Birmingham City for more than £2million.

Chairman Dave Cormack has already shown he is a no-nonsense negotiator after netting big deals for Cosgrove and a club record fee from Nottingham Forest for Scott McKenna.

Wright has already signed a pre-contract and will move to Rangers in the summer if nothing can be agreed before midnight.

Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard has already said it would be a bonus if they could get him in immediately but it seems the club are struggling to meet Aberdeen's valuation.

Ross McCrorie could be used as part of any deal as the Dons are due to pay around £350,000 to sign him permanently in the summer.

Rangers are also keen to see if a deal can be done with Bournemouth for Jack Simpson.

He has also signed a pre-contract, with Nnamdi Ofoborh's deal likely to be announced in the next 24 hours.
