Scott Wood: Edinburgh man who vanished from Morningside a week ago found

Another Edinburgh person that had been reported missing has been traced safe and well, Police have confirmed.

Scott Wood vanished from the Morningside area of the city on January 5, with growing concern for his wellbeing from family members mounting.

Adding to the growing list of missing people within Edinburgh, Police today confirmed that Scott has been found safe and well.

The 41-year-old had members of his family and the public worried after his uncharacteristic disappearance last week, with Police Scotland issuing a plea for help.

In a short statement today, January 10, Police Scotland said: "Following our previous missing person appeal, we can confirm that Scott Wood has been traced safe and well. We would like to thanks those who assisted with sharing our appeal."

Scott joins 53-year-old James Dodds who was also found over the weekend, after a string of unusual disappearances within the city has left locals worried.

James was missing for almost a week after failing to connect to friends or family over that period, vanishing from the city centre on January 3.

However, the search goes on for 28-year-old Alice Byrne who has not been seen since January 1, with growing unrest amongst her friends and family regarding her welfare.

53-year-old Dean Conner is also still missing from East Lothian, with his family offering a reward for any information that may lead to him being traced.

Also missing since Hogmanay, Dean went missing from Musselburgh, walking along Links Avenue towards the promenade. A major search is in progress for Conner, with police using sniffer dogs to scour local beaches.
