Scott Williams has been released from Wales' autumn squad.
The 58-cap centre will now head back to the Scarlets after not being involved in any of Wales' matchday squads.
Having been called in to the squad to cover Willis Halaholo after the Cardiff midfielder tested positive for Covid-19, it could be argued the writing was on the wall once Halaholo linked back up with Wales after his isolation period came to an end.
However, having been one of the form centres in Wales so far this season, rediscovering some of his best form after three years of dreadful luck with injuries, Williams would have hoped to force his way into Wayne Pivac's thoughts once in camp.
However, that will not be the case in this campaign, at least, with Williams' early release after not being named in the side to face Fiji now meaning he won't play any part in Wales' final match against Australia either.
Johnny Williams, Ben Thomas, Nick Tompkins and Jonathan Davies have all lined up in midfield at some point this autumn, while Lions winger Josh Adams will start at outside centre against Fiji this Sunday.
