One of the biggest tasks that Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Scott Turner will take on this coming fall is helping decide who gets the bulk of the carries at the running back position in the 2020 season. He has several options to choose from.
As of now, withstanding any information regarding health or availability, Turner will be forced to allocate snaps between Derrius Guice, Adrian Peterson, Antonio Gibson, Bryce Love, Peyton Barber, and J.D. McKissic. There are some obvious front-runners for the RB1 role, and others might find a way to cut out their corner in the RB room. There are also some players who might be forced to take a backseat for the time being or maybe even be cut from the 53-man roster.
Adrian Peterson is not one of those players. As the resident veteran, not only on the RB room but of the team at large, Turner made it clear when talking to the media on Wednesday that AP as a place on this team.
Having “a role” may not be the most ringing endorsement for a future Hall-of-Famer like Peterson, but it’s understandable when you consider the number of players that he will be competing with for snaps. Should his dominant battle against Father Time continue through the 2020 season, AP will undoubtedly have a role on this team for the foreseeable future as well.
