Scott Tanser at the double as St Johnstone defeat Aberdeen in pre-season game

Full-back Scott Tanser was at the double as St Johnstone defeated Aberdeen 2-1 at Pittodrie on Tuesday.

The left-sided defender, not usually a name on the scoresheet, bagged the opener from the penalty spot on 75 minutes before finding the net with a free-kick.

Millwall loan signing Isaac Olaofe, who entered the action at the break, played a key role in the victory by being fouled in the build-up to both goals.

They followed on from a goalless first half, but Bruce Anderson did pull one back for the Dons with a volley as the pre-season friendly entered its final stages.

Former Scotland international Craig Conway, most recently of Salford City, picked up further game-time for the Perth side and played 45 minutes.

He has impressed Perth management and it would be no surprise to see him line-up in a Saints kit when Premiership action gets under way next month.

Danny McNamara, a full-back also acquired on loan from Millwall, played more than 80 minutes while youngsters Cammy Ballantyne and John Robertson were given a run-out.

The 2-1 win follows on from last week’s 0-0 draw with Hibernian.

Saints line-up: Parish, Rooney, Gordon (Duffy 82), McCart, McNamara (Ballantyne 82), Tanser, Craig, Wotherspoon (Kerr 62), Trialist (McCann 45), May (Olaofe 45), Hendry (Robertson 70).
