Scott Sinclair transfer latest as Celtic reject Preston loan bid for winger

Preston have had a loan bid for Celtic winger Scott Sinclair rejected.

The 30-year-old is rated at £2.5million and it's understood the Hoops are only interested in a sale.

He has yet to start any of the first three competitive games of the new season but Preston can’t afford to buy him.

The English Championship outfit are eyeing a number of targets as they prepare for the new campaign and the Celtic winger is believed to be on the list.

Sinclair has one year left on his current deal after an extension was triggered in his deal during the summer.

The former Manchester City and Chelsea star has found opportunities limited under Neil Lennon having been signed by previous boss Brendan Rodgers for £4million three years ago.

Record Sport understands that speculation last night suggesting a £2.5m bid from Deepdale has been lodged to Celtic chiefs are wide of the mark.

However, his name is still on the radar of the Lancashire outfit.

Alex Neil is looking to bolster his squad ahead of the new season and is eyeing an ambitious move by tempting Sinclair back down south.

Meanwhile Lennon remained tight-lipped over his spying trip to Wales to run the rule over Partizan Belgrade's Serbian centre-back Strahinja Pavlovic.

He said: "That was an eye opener as well.

"There was an Irishman in the middle of it.

"He must have got lost!

"We were looking at a player. I’m just doing my job.

"I’m not going to divulge who it was obviously.

"A lot would fall into place if we do qualify but I’m uneasy talking about qualification as we are still so far off it.

"We’re making good inroads at the minute but it's been a very good start."
