Scott Sinclair in Celtic check-up as Hoops hero sends 'congrats geeza' shoutout to Lille breakthrough star

Conor Hazard has created a buzz with his surprise showing against Lille in the Europa League as former Celtic stars like Scott Sinclair flock to the young keeper's Instagram to post their congratulations.

Hazard was given a chance in Thursday night's dead-rubber and the keeper was out to impress on his first-team competitive debut.

He let in two but it was still a positive showing from the 22-year-old with one particular second-half save proving his ability as Scott Bain and Vasilis Barkas were benched for the game.

And the young shot-stopper was swamped with messages of support on his Instagram, with some notable former Hoops heroes chiming in.

It showed that despite his lack of first-team action he left an impression on many senior players from past seasons before finally getting his chance this week.

Former Parkhead winger Sinclair might have moved to Preston North End nearly a year ago but he showed he still likes to keep up with his former club as he wrote: "Congrats geeza!!! Well done".

And Leicester City's Filip Benkovic, who impressed in his season-long loan from the Foxes in 2018-19, added: "Hazoo so happy for you, congrats!!!!"

FC Midtjylland captain and ex- Celtic centre-back Erik Sviatchenko said: "Well done my friend!", while a former member of the Parkhead goalkeeping contingent also offered his support, with Dorus De Vries adding: "Congratulations pal".

It remains to be seen if the Northern Ireland cap will remain as Neil Lennon's No.1, or if the manager will return to Bain or summer arrival Barkas for Sunday's home clash against Kilmarnock.
