Celtic have triggered a contract clause to make Scott Sinclair their top earner and extend his deal by 12 months - according to a report.
The winger's Parkhead future has been up in the air in recent months as the club pondered over a decision.
Sinclair could've become a free agent at the end of the current campaign but, according to The Scottish Sun , Celtic have taken up an option included in the original terms he agreed when signing in 2016.
They report the club will pay him £1.75million and catapult him to the top of the wage bill.
Middlesbrough are reportedly interested in the former Swansea and Manchester City star but it appears the Hoops have now moved to warn off potential suitors.
Sinclair bagged a stunning 25 goals during his first term at Celtic after being brought to Scotland by Brendan Rodgers.
He followed up with 18 in his second campaign but came in for stick over his all-round performances.
This season has yielded 17 strikes for Sinclair but again he's come under scrutiny and has flitted in and out of the side since Neil Lennon took over as interim boss.
