The Scott’s Porage Oats kilted shot-putter has had a millennial makeover – greeted by fans with a resounding “och aye the no”.
Gone is the muscular, square-jawed image of Highland Games legend Jay Scott that has adorned the packs since 1955.
In its place is a slimline, pouting version who looks as if he could be hailing a taxi while taking a call.
He is even wearing a different tartan.
And instead of the oats being tagged “original”, they are dubbed “old-fashioned”.

Fans said the brand had made a dog’s breakfast of the new look.
One wag on Reddit said: “Thought that was Ed Miliband.”
Another fan felt the update looked like someone chatting on the phone, while yet another said it looked as if the model was posing for a Snapchat photo.
One said: “Can we talk about the tragic loss of pectoral cleavage?
"I don’t want my men smooth, damn it.”
A shopper wrote on the firm’s Facebook page: “Please bring back the original.
"The new guy looks a bit of a wimp in comparison!”
But Scott’s said: “While the design has evolved over the years, we have always stayed true to the Scottish spirit of the brand.
"We’ve had some great feedback on our latest design inspired by recent images of Scottish shot-putters in the Highland games.”

The brand was launched in 1880 by brothers A&R Scott and is now owned by PepsiCo.
Athlete Jay Scott, who died in 1997 aged 66, became the poster boy in the mid-1950s.
