Scott Roberts set for Stirling switch as midfielder turns down Albion Rovers deal

Scott Roberts has turned down a new deal at Albion Rovers in favour of a move to League Two rivals Stirling.

Cliftonhill boss Brian Reid confirmed that the 24-year-old has knocked-back a new deal in favour of a move to Forthbank.

The midfielder was a standout for the under Kevin Harper despite the sides struggles at the foot of the division.

He joins Daniel Scally in turning down a new deal at the club, with the winger opting for a move to League One outfit Forfar.

Reid told Lanarkshire Live Sport: "We had offers on the table to both Scott and Daniel and they have chosen other offers.

"We made the offers as good as we can make them but for Scott Stirling was the better option.

"We respect the decision of Daniel and Scott but we are obviously disappointed to lose them.

"They were honest with me throughout the break since we had made the offers to them and I respect their decision."

The gaffer additionally confirmed that an offer remains on the table for attacker Euan East.

The 20-year-old netted seven times for the Coatbridge side last term.

He added: "We still want Euan to come to the club, but it's a risk that all footballers take at this point in the season.

"The longer he waits the more I will start to look at other players who can fill that position.

"It's a wee bit of a gamble but the door is still open to him."
