Scott Parker emerges as shock favourite for Tottenham job

Fulham boss Scott Parker has emerged as one of the favourites to become the new Tottenham manager.

Former Newcastle United midfielder Parker is currently battling to keep the Cottagers in the Premier League, with just four games of the season remaining.

But he has been installed among the leading candidates to succeed Jose Mourinho in the Spurs hotseat, with Leicester's Brendan Rodgers reportedly not interested in the vacancy.

Parker, who played for both Tottenham and Newcastle in a long career, has won many admirers for the way he has kept Fulham in the survival frame with a brand of positive football.

They trail Newcastle by nine points with just 12 more to play for, although the two sides go head to head at Craven Cottage on the final day of the Premier League season.

Ryan Mason has taken temporary charge of Spurs, overseeing their Carabao Cup final defeat to Manchester City, and the club's bid to break into the fop four.

However, while Rodgers remains high in the betting, Parker is now 4/1 favourite with some bookmakers.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo is also among the frontrunners, along with Inter Milan's Antonio Conte and former Hoffenheim boss Ralf Rangnick. Ex-Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has also been mentioned among possible candidates.
