Scott Murray Q+A: David Noble's magic, international week at Bristol City, Alby's big party

With David Noble's magnificent goal against Crystal Palace remembered on Tuesday with the 2008 play-offs strike voted by Bristol City fans as the most iconic goal, the Robins midfielder was painted on a wall near Temple Meads station to mark the occasion.

The campaign is being run by the EFL highlighting how football is often a conversation starter, and the importance of talking when it comes to mental health support.

And also down at Temple Gate on Tuesday to catch up with his former team-mate Scotty Murray, the City legend now of course the kit-man.

So we grabbed the Aberdeen-born midfielder for a quick work on and much more...

Where were you when that goal went in?

I wasn't actually in the squad; I was coming to the end of my career. I was actually doing the radio on the day of the game and for both legs.

I presume it was BBC Radio Bristol, I can't remember. It was live on the radio and I remember the two goals really well, that first one that Louis scored - he scored his famous weasel goal, the free kick that we used to call the weasel.

Nobes has scored the winner last minute and I've literally screamed my head off.

How good was David Noble?

What a talent. He's a good mate, been on holiday loads of times with him. When I phoned up and told him [that he'd won the vote for the most iconic Bristol City goal for this campaign, and to be painted in the city], he couldn't believe it.

I told him he had and he's made the effort to come down and see it - and it speaks volumes of the man.

What he could do with a ball was frightening. I was just chatting to him there and he was saying that the best times of his career was played here. The reason he's come down is he's so highly thought of here and by the club as well.

What does the kitman do over international break at Bristol City?

I've been in today. The lads are off for a few days but there's still a few injured lads floating about. I'll be in tomorrow, doing bits and bobs.

I've got Aaron Wilbraham's 40th on Saturday at the Etihad. He's playing Saturday and then a few of us have got his 40th Saturday night at the Etihad. I'm wearing my Liverpool kit!

David Noble's goal was voted as City's iconic moment for the EFL's Goals Worth Talking About campaign in partnership with mental health charity Mind, with the aim of highlighting how football is often a conversation starter, and the importance of talking when it comes to mental health support.
