Scott McTominay sends message to Manchester United summer signings

Scott McTominay says he is looking forward to welcoming new Manchester United signings to the squad in the coming weeks.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his side will return to training a week on Monday as the United manager steps up his preparation ahead of this summer's tour of Australasia.

The Norwegian coach has already made Daniel James his first signing of the summer and the club are now keen to make Aaron Wan-Bissaka their second arrival.

Both players will be looking to hit the ground running when United begin their pre-season schedule in three weeks time, and McTominay is looking forward to being part of the new project under Solskjaer.

“When it comes to pre-season, that’s the start of the proper season for the manager,” he told Inside United.

“It’ll be good to be together as a group and if a few signings come in we’ll be ready for that and welcome them with open arms."

United's lack of fitness cost them plenty of times last season, however McTominay believes this summer's intense pre-season schedule will help them to address that problem in the new campaign.

The Scotland international added: “You need to play the best teams to get a feel for how you’re getting on as a group and how everything is going with the different systems you play.

“But more importantly, when you play against the bigger teams, I think that really helps with your match fitness. So, it’s a positive for us that we’re playing some real top-quality sides.”
