Scott McTominay's Wolves display gets Man Utd fans fearing for player's future

Scott McTominay would have dreamed about this moment as he was coming through the ranks at Manchester United , and on Tuesday evening it arrived.

It took the midfielder 13 minutes into his 41st competitive appearance for the club to score his first goal for United, with his arrowed drive from the edge of the box beating Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio and finding the bottom corner.

The pride was evident on the Scottish international's face as he wheeled away, and he was joined by several of his ecstatic teammates.

And the goal was a just reward for a brave team selection from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian picked McTominay to start over Nemanja Matic, a player who was always one of the first names on the teamsheet under Jose Mourinho but one who has found his form questioned of late.

Fans are starting to see the Serbian as a little slow and ponderous for the brand of football that Solskjaer wants to play, and it wasn't long until many were claiming that McTominay's goal could spell bad news for the former Chelsea man.

Matic watched on as McTominay's strike gave United the lead, but Wolves hit back and went in at the break level thanks to an equaliser from Diogo Jota.
