Scott McTominay gives injury update as he moves closer to Manchester United return

Scott McTominay said he is feeling good as he steps up his recovery from injury during Manchester United's winter training camp.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his players flew to Spain on Saturday for some warm weather training during the winter break ahead of the clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on February 17.

McTominay has not played for United since Boxing Day due to knee ligament damage and was expected to miss the training camp to focus on his recovery in Manchester.

But Solskjaer said the Scotland international had recovered better than United were expecting and the 23-year-old made the trip to southern Spain and was involved in their first session on Sunday.

McTominay was working with Axel Tuanzebe and fitness coaches away from the main group and said he is feeling good as he targets a return to action.

"I am feeling good, I am feeling fit. I have always had that drive and ambition to keep on top of my fitness and look after my body, because it is the most important thing," McTominay told MUTV.

"I am feeling well. It is nice to be in Marbella with the boys, get a little bit of sunshine and get some warm weather training as well, which is obviously more beneficial than being at home. It brings everyone together as a group. I have not seen them that much over the last five or six weeks, so it is good to see everyone, see the boys all together again and hopefully we can finish the season strong."

McTominay has been working with the club's fitness coaches for the past six weeks as he aims to get back on the pitch and help his team in their push to finish in the top four.

"They (the coaches) have helped me a lot," McTominay added. "They have been there when it has been not so easy, when you're feeling a little down in the dumps because you can't play. But that is footblal. You have to be mentally strong.

"I feel like I am, and hopefully it will be nice to get some minutes, or a lot of game time, towards the end of the season."
