Scott McTominay explains mood in Man Utd dressing room after Arsenal draw

Scott McTominay has opened up on the mood in the Manchester United dressing room following their 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Monday.

McTominay fired United ahead at Old Trafford with a long-range effort as the 22-year-old had a good game in the Red Devils' midfield.

But his strike was cancelled out by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with the Arsenal forward's effort cleared by VAR after intially being disallowed for offside.

McTominay could have doubled his tally afterwards but could only bullet his free header over the crossbar.

And he said Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side had to cut out the mistakes as he reflected on the "disappointment" in the home dressing room as United failed to win for the second Premier League game in a row .

"It is definitely disappointment with the different opportunities we had in the game and the way that we started," McTominay told MUTV after a result that meant United have made their worst start to a Premier League season.

"In the first 45 minutes we were right on the front foot, we were aggressive and did a lot of things right.

"I thought we were good value for three points tonight. It was little mistakes that we need to start cutting out which are starting to cost us games or cost us points in this case.

"Everyone in that dressing room knows that it is a tough one to take."

United boss Solskjaer claimed his defenders stopped playing when referee's assistant Scott Ledger raised his flag to rule Aubameyang offside – before VAR correctly allowed the goal to stand.

Asked if the raising of the flag caused his players to hesitate, allowing Aubameyang to score, Solskjaer said: “Ashley Young certainly holds his hand up, he looks straight at the linesman, maybe hesitates and could've got a block in.

“That would probably would have helped David De Gea, but that's no consolation as it's a perfectly good goal for them, although he probably should have kept the flag down.

“It made an impact on the situation by raising the flag."
