Scott McTominay adds to Scotland injury woes as Manchester United star is ruled out for a 'few months'

Scott McTominay could miss the Euro 2020 play-offs after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed the Scotland star will be
sidelined for “a few months” with his knee injury.

The Manchester United midfielder limped out of the Boxing Day win over Newcastle with suspected ligament damage. He joins John McGinn and Kieran Tierney on the sidelines ahead of the crucial play-off semi against Israel at Hampden on March 26.

And the Premier League trio would all be contenders to start the tie if fit.

United gaffer Solskjaer said: “Scott will be out for a few months and that is a big blow. He has been magnificent.”

Aston Villa ace McGinn fractured his ankle three days before Christmas while Tierney dislocated his shoulder playing for Arsenal against West Ham last month.

McTominay's injury means Steve Clarke will be without two of his regular first choice starting midfield.

It could provide an opportunity for Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack to cement a place, as well as Sheffield United's John Fleck.
