Scott McKenna transfer latest as Aberdeen star is left frustrated

Aberdeen have told want-away Scott McKenna they will not buckle in their bid to receive top dollar.

The Dons' stance, however, has left McKenna frustrated as he searches for a fresh challenge.

He has given Aberdeen a full two seasons and seen a number of bids knocked back.

Nottingham Forest and Queens Park Rangers have both had offers rejected in this window and that led to the Scotland star putting in a transfer request before the weekend Premiership win over Hearts.

QPR boss Mark Warburton has tried to land McKenna (PA)

Last summer, Hull City, Swansea, Celtic and Aston Villa - who weighed in with a huge £7million bid - were all unsuccessful in their pursuit of the 22-year-old while Stoke City also failed in a bid in January.

McKenna is frustrated as he knows he could at least have added a zero to his wage packet if he had gone to Villa, who will play in the English Premier League this season.

He now faces an anxious wait over the next 24 hours but a revived bid from Celtic also looks extremely unlikely.

Aberdeen, meanwhile, are also disappointed McKenna has taken the decision to ask for a move and are adamant they won’t be forced into selling.
