Dons boss Derek McInnes has got Aberdeen fans sweating after making an honest admission about star defender Scott McKenna .
Just minutes after a dramatic late win over Hearts , the Dons gaffer admitted he wasn't sure whether his key centre back would be flying out to Croatia with the squad or shipping off to pastures new.
He revealed Aberdeen have booted out a new bid for the Scottish international, with several English clubs considering a late move for the 22-year-old before the English transfer deadline slams shut on Thursday.
McInnes said: "Will Scott be on the plane? Who knows, but as it stands if there is no other action he will be.
“There was a fresh offer.
“I don’t know if there was a written offer from Nottingham Forest but there certainly was from QPR on Friday - but clearly it was not enough.
“It was a slight increase and it was structured in a certain way but it was not enough for the club to accept.
“Scott’s had a lot to contend with but his performances have been great.
“It’s up to the buying club to make my chairman think differently but as it stands Scott will remain with us.”
McKenna has been the subject of interest for several English clubs over the last two years, including Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, as well as Celtic.
McInnes will be desperate to hold on to the talent as they travel to Croatia to face Rijeka in their crunch Europa League qualifier on Thursday.
They geared up for that tie with an exciting 3-2 win over Hearts at Pittodrie.
