Scott McKenna on board Aberdeen flight amid QPR, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest transfer interest

Wantaway Scott McKenna is with the Aberdeen squad heading to Croatia as speculation continues to mount over his future.

The Scotland international has joined up with his Dons team mates at Aberdeen airport for their chartered flight ahead of Thursday's Europa League qualifying clash with Rijeka.

McKenna, who has four years left on his contract, submitted a transfer request at the weekend after offers from Nottingham Forest and Queens Park Rangers were turned down.

Now Bristol City have reportedly joined the chase for the 22-year-old as the clock ticks down on business south of the border. According to Bristol Live, Lee Johnson sees McKenna as a long-term replacement for Adam Webster who joined Brighton at the weekend.

Aberdeen have taken a hardline stance and told McKenna that he will only be sold if somebody meets their valuation - of at least £7million.

Such is City's need to find a partner for Tomas Kalas, they may be willing to vastly improve on Forest's bid which was believed to have been £3m.

Forest and QPR remain keen on the 22-year-old but the chances of him leaving Pittodrie in this window now appear unlikely with the English signing deadline at 5pm on Thursday.

Aberdeen are in European action in their first-leg encounter at the same time as they bid to qualify for the Europa League play-off round.

McKenna could still move elsewhere in Scotland or in Europe where transfer windows are open for the rest of the month.

The highly-rated star has already been the subject of multiple, failed bids over the last 18 months.

Aston Villa had a £7million offer turned down this time last year while Celtic failed with a bid around half of that.

Stoke City, Hull City and Swansea have all also been unsuccessful with bids in that time as Aberdeen hold firm.
