Scott McKenna dismisses Scotland coronavirus fears as he insists players have no worries

Scott McKenna insists the Scotland team DON’T feel under any Covid-19 threat ahead of their trip to face Czech Republic.

The Nations League game on Monday night was in serious doubt with Czech officials ready to call it off. But UEFA have ordered them to fulfil the tie against Steve Clarke’s side - even if they have to change their entire squad and staff.

The Czechs beat
Slovakia 3-1 without star players Tomas Soucek and Patrik Schick, who had come into contact with a member of staff who tested positive for coronavirus last week.

Now, a new coach and players outside Czech sides Sparta Prague,
Slavia Prague and
Viktoria Plzen are set to be drafted in.

Scotland defender McKenna says Clarke’s men have no fears about travelling. The squad are due to fly out tonight and the Aberdeen star said: “We all feel safe. The
doctors and medical staff here are brilliant with us.

“We have to trust in the processes they have in place. UEFA are strict at the best of times.

“If they’re happy for the game to go ahead then I am too, and I’m sure all my team-mates feel the same way.”

Scotland gaffer Clarke claimed he’s had no contact from any club boss over concerns about his players.

McKenna has heard nothing from Dons boss Derek McInnes ahead of the trip.

He said: “I haven’t heard from the club, they were happy for me to go away. We’ll be exempt when we come back into the country so everyone is happy with it and we’re fine to carry on playing.”
